Hurricane Sandy Clean Up Continues

Tree and branch collection expected to continue.

It’s been more than a month since Hurricane Sandy hit, and it could be at least another month before the township finally cleans up all the branches and debris it left behind. Township officials said Monday that Public Works employees have been working on the clean up since the storm need, but there is still much to be done and pick up will continue for at least another month However, Township Administrator James White said during Monday’s Township Council meeting that the priority right now is loose leaf collection, which will hopefully be done before more inclement weather hits the area, making the job far more difficult. According to EastBrunswick.org website, our area is in PWSD#3 for loose leaf collection which has collection date range of November 19 through December 1. http://www.eastbrunswick.org/filestorage/202/281/LEAF_BROCHURE.2012_Front_Side.pdf Apparently, we were either passed over or they are delayed with their dates. Township to Pick Up Branches

Residents with storm related trees and branches should put them at the curb for pick up.

The township announced that it will collect storm related brush and branches. Residents are urged to place the material at the curb and cut in to lenghths that are no greater than four feet. Brushg and brnches should not be put into the piles of leaves to be collectd during the township's Leaf Collection Program. Keep these materials in separate areas. The Recycling Center can also accept loose brush.
