Cut Your Own Christmas Tree

Do you prefer to trim a freshly cut tree? Here are some places in the area where you can go to choose and chop.

If your family prefers to deck the halls with a freshly cut Christmas tree, there are several in Middlesex County to choose from.     Here is a list of farms in Middlesex County, according to the New Jersey Department of Agriculture: Giamarese Farm, 155 Fresh Ponds Road, East Brunswick                         Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, closed Monday through Dec. 23. Oh, Christmas Tree

Giamarese Farms started selling cut-your-own trees over the weekend.

The Christmas season got started this weekend at Giamarese Farms. You can stop by and cut your own trees, buy wreaths, tree stands and wreath blankets, and even take a hayride. Rides are hourly every weekend at 1 p.m. Rides and are free to everyone who buys a tree. Giamarese Farms is located at 155 Fresh Ponds Road, East Brunswick. Call them at 732-821-9494. Picking out a Christmas tree may seem like nothing more than fun and games. But at Giamarese Farm, it's serious business. From blue spruces, to concolor firs, from cut-your-owns to pre-cut trees, picking the perfect tree at Giamarese or anywhere else is an important part of Christmas time. Here are a few things you might need to know about the variety of trees available these days. Concolor Fir - soft, silvery blue flat needles, 2 to 3 inches long with a citrus aroma. Excellent needle retention. Douglas Fir - lush, blue-green needles, soft and fragrant, 1 inch long. Sturdy branches, outstanding needle retention.
