Girls Volleyball Defeats North Brunswick

The girls volleyball team is having a great season. Check out their match against North Brunswick as shown on EBTV.

East Brunswick Girls Top Old Bridge

The varsity girls soccer team defeated Old Bridge Wednesday afternoon at EBHS.

Natasha Ntone Kou scored the winning goal with just a minute left during the second overtime agasint Old Bridge, Wednesday at the East Brunswick High School stadium. Lady Bears Tie Piscataway

The varsity girls soccer team tied with Piscataway 1-1 Saturday, while the junior varsity won.

The East Brunswick girls soccer teams faced Piscataway Saturday, and while the JV squad won 2-0, the varstiy team had to leave the field with a 1-1 tie. Piscataway jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but the Lady Bears came back to tie it up. Three extra times later, the squads left the field. The varsity team's record is 3-1-1. According to www.nj.com, East Brunswick goalkeeper Alex Kalafor made four saves while Piscataway goalkeeper Kristyn Shea made seven saves, including a diving stop in overtime. EBHS Bears Set for Big Season

Football squad hopes to rebound from an off year in 2011.

With 18 returning starters, the East Brunswick Varsity Football team is looking to improve on last season. “We have about 20 players with varsity game experience,” said Marcus Borden in an e-mail. “We need to stay healthy. We open up with four playoff teams in first five games.” The bears will see nine returning starters on each side of the ball, including seniors Chris Ramos (RB), Jayson Parker (FB) Jared Tardiff (C) Wes Lynch (G/DT) Matt Bettin (LB), Devrim Dereli (G), Brian Kim (G) and Lee Urschel (DB), and juniors Jon Gerhartz (QB/DB) and Michael Quintin (DE). Jon Schleifer Advances in Regionals

Tournament will continue Satuday afternoon and evening.

One East Brunswick High School one Friday evening during Regional Compeititon at Hunterdon Central High School. Jon Schleifer, 152 pounds and last year’s regional champion, won by technical fall (18-3) over Giovanni Crespo from Perth Amboy and is still in the running for a second consecutive championship win. Other EBHS results were: 126 pound Mike Nicolaro got pinned by Jake Balestrieri from Franklin (3:15); 132 pound Sean Glasgow lost by decision to Mackey Price from Hillsborough (9-3); 160 pound Mike Okane lost to Eli Zafrani from old bridge (8-3); 195 pound Greg Krueger lost to Matt Bruskin From Somerville (9-0); and 220 pound Mike Quintin lost a major decision to Mike Markulec  from Hopewell valley (11-2).

Boys Varsity Hits Its Stride

The Bears basketball team is having a great season so far.

Boys Basketball Set for Another Good Year

East Brunswick got it's first chance to show how got it is by defeateding Perth Amboy Friday 30-61.

The East Brunswick High School boys basketball team has a combined 41 wins the past two seasons. According to Coach Bo Henning, don't expect to see much of a change this year. "Our scrimmages have gone well," Henning said. "The kids have done a good job to prepare for the season. If I don't mess it up, we should have a good season." Henning was just having some fun. He's in his 24th year on the job and guided the team to a 21-5 mark last season. He knows what he's doing. "We have a chance to be really good," Henning said. "We have a good nucleus back from last season. We lost five players, but only one starter." East Brunswick has five guys back that were at least part-time starters last season. EBHS Graduate to Take Web Show to Current TV

Cenk Uygar, an East Brunswick High School graduate and host of The Young Turks, will debut a new cable version of the web show on Current on Dec. 5.

East Brunswick High School graduate Cenk Uygur will take his popular Web-basd political talk show, "The Young Turks," to Current TV starting Monday. The show, "The Young Turks with Cenk Ugyur," will air nightly at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and will serve as a lead-in to "Countdown with Keith Olbermann." The Young Turks launched as an internet radio show in 2002 and expanded to satellite televsion and the Web in 2005. The show gets about 30 million visitors a month to its You Tube channel, Ugyur told Patch, and has had 610 million visitors since it launched. Uygur, on his TYT web site describes The Young Turks as a "unique and no-holds-barred gathering place for progressives to meet and address the issues of the day." The show will allow…
