Rabbi Aryeh Goodman has been charged with 12 counts of indecent assault on a minor while he was a counselor at a summer camp more than a decade ago.
An East Brunswick Chabad rabbi has made his first court appearance for 12 counts of indecent assault against a juvenile that allegedly happened more than 10 years ago, according to reports. Rabbi Aryeh Goodman has been charged with allegedly inappropriately touching a minor under the age of 13 multiple times while Goodman was a counselor at Camp Menachem in Pike County, Pa. in 2001. According to a report by Greater Media Newspapers, Goodman faces up to five years in prison for each count if convicted. He was arrested on Jan. 4 by the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office and held at the North Brunswick Jail before being transported to Pennsylvania for trial proceedings, according to the report. The East Brunswick Chabad celebrated Sukkot in style on Oct. 4 with its very own mobile Sukkah. The Sukkah mobile was a featured part of Sushi in the Sukkah, which took pace in the parking lot of the Acme in Milltown. “Our children were ecstatic" said Nurit and Raviv Mor. "They have been on hay rides before, but never sukkah-mobile rides!." The event featured a carnival, Sukkah rides, Sushi bar and more than 150 people were in attendance. “Getting back into the school schedule is always a tough time for parents and their families, this was a great reliever" said Rabbi Aryeh Goodman, "especially celebrating a holiday which is all about unity and family." The East Brunswick Chabad continued its exciting and innovative holiday programming with this year's Purim Mexican Fiesta, held Wednesday March 7, at the Riva Avenue firehouse. More than 150 people joined the holiday festivities, which included a Mexican Mariachi Band, Mexican delicacies, Maraca painting and personalized rice-jewelry making for the children. Families came dressed in their Purim costumes, joined in the fun and excitement of the evening, full of food, drink, crafts and music.

It’s Purim with a Mexican Flair. The East Brunswick Chabad will hold a Mexican Purim Fiesta on Wednesday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at the Brookview Fire Department on Riva Avenue. The event includes a Chinese auction (including a living room set), a Megilla Reading, Mexican dinner and margarita bar, personalized rice jewelry, a mariachi band, maraca decorating, and prizes for every costume. Chabad also will have an after-school Purim party at 4 p.m. today (Tuesday, March 6) at the Chabad, 3 Lexington Avenue.
