Summer Garbage Collection Schedule Ends

Garbage collection will go to a once a week schedule beginning Sept. 10

Sorry folks, the end of summer is here. Not only does that mean an end to camp, and the beach, and vacation, it also means the end of twice a week garbage collection. Beginning Monday, Sept. 10, the township will resume once a week solid waste collection. For several years the township has had a solid waste management program that includes twice a week collection during the summer months and once a week collection during the fall, summer and spring. The decision was made as a way to curb spending, and Mayor David Stahl has said the program is a success. To see what your garbage collection schedule is, see the attached schedule. I too would, like to know the actual saving. When you consider the township tax went down only a few pennies, the cutting of garbage pick up did not make a real difference. I wonder why the republican candidates are silent on this, Walmart and the 400 rental units.   more ›

Mayor David Stahl said the schedule, put into place several years ago, was made after much research and discussion and that the change has been successful in that it provides enough of a cost savings to produce a reduction in municipal taxes. Residents who voted in this week’s poll seem to …

Twice A Week Garbage Collection Starts Monday

Garbage will be collected twice a week until the fall. Do you like the system?

Summer is almost here, and that means more garbage pick-ups. Beginning Monday, May 21, garbage will be picked up two times a week until the fall. For several years the township has had a solid waste management program that includes twice a week collection during the summer months and once a week collection during the fall, summer and spring. “The decision to change the manner in which solid waste was picked up from our residents was made only after much research and discussion,” said Mayor David Stahl. “The change from twice a week to once a week, with the exception of the summer months, has been incredibly successful and widely accepted by the residents." Mayor Stahl said that since the change, there has been enough cost savings to be …
