Christie Postpones Halloween Statewide After Sandy

"Postponing Halloween celebrations by five days is a commonsense and necessary step" during post-Sandy cleanup, the governor says.

Effective immediately, Halloween is postponed in New Jersey.     Gov. Chris Christie issued an executive order declaring that no New Jersey town can hold trick-or-treating today, Oct. 31. If towns had planned to do so, they must move trick-or-treating and any public celebrations to Monday, Nov. 5. Towns that already moved trick-or-treating to another day other than Oct. 31 can keep their plans, but state officials are still suggesting Monday instead. “I’ve taken this action to minimize additional risks to lives and the public safety as we begin the process of rebuilding and recovering from Hurricane Sandy,” Christie said in a statement. “In too many communities in our state, the damage and losses from this storm are still being sorted out…

Halloween Postponed Today, Big Holiday Event Saturday at Heavenly Farms

The township will sponsor Trunk-Or-Treat Saturday at Heavenly Farms. Roads and sidewalks are still to dangerous to walk around on.

East Brunswick is postponing Halloween for today and will instead sponsor a Trunk-Or-Treat Event Saturday at Heavenly Farms. East Brunswick Mayor David Stahl and Deputy Chief William Krause, the East Brunswick Director of Public Safety, said safety concerns for trick or treaters are too great to allow pedestrian or motor vehicle traffic throughout the town. “We are still experiencing widespread power outages, downed live power lines, fallen trees and downed utility poles,” said the statement. “As well, roads and sidewalks are still covered with a considerable amount of storm debris making walking unsafe.
