Always liked the Milltown PO and the people who worked there. Postal workers always friendly. I think people actually went out of their way to go there just for those reasons. Looked forward the the reopening.   more ›

Letter: The Plight of a Milltown Family

Milltown has been dark since Hurricane Irene hit with little help on the way.

To the editor:   I"m writing to you regarding the devastation resulting  from Hurricane Irene to a family in Milltown.  I saw many reports of the damage to roads and flooding but what about the people affected.  The  family in the attached photos live on West Church Street in Milltown, they are literally homeless due to the flooding of their basement from the swamp across the street. They contacted the local fire department and were told to put on their bathing suit and shut off the gas in the basement and to pump out the water.  There was no electricity to run the pump so they managed to rig something up with their car battery but eventually had to purchase a generator for $800. .  Later they found out the fire department pumped out the …

Where are the Churches, Temples and other Places of Worships to help all the people in trouble? Shelters at least for the people with children. Their homes will be filled with mold. The neighbors, stores or families can't help them? Where is the kindness in thy hearts? Can't the pet stores or shelters help them with animal food? It's very disappointing to hear about this story and others around …   more ›
