The Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Trenton Monday to win the Central Jersey Group 4 Championship.
The East Brunswick Bears won the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 Championship by scoring a 59-49 victory over Trenton Monday night. The house was packed as Trenton kept it close early, before eventually giving way to an East Brunswick squad that played hard at both ends of the court. Rob Ukawuba, who will attend NJIT in the fall, led the team with 22 points and nine rebounds. Teammate Danny Leung notched 15 points and 4 rebounds. The title is East Brunswick’s fist since the 1985-86 season. Next up is a showdown with Atlantic City at Egg Harbor Township at 5:30 p.m. for the Group 4 state Semi-finals.
EBHS seniors Natasha Ntone Kouo, Julia Wescott, and Rob Ukawuba signed letters of intent on Wednesday.
It was a big day for East Brunswick athletics. Wednesday was National Signing Day, and three East Brunswick High School seniors signed letters of intent to play in college. Natasha Ntone Kouo (soccer) agreed to attend the University of Maryland, Julia Wescott (soccer) agreed to attend Lafayette College, and Rob Ukawuba (basketball) agreed to play at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. A four-year varsity starter, Ukawuba has scored more than 1,000 points during his high school career and helped lead the team to two division championships. His teammates said the forward was not only a great teammate and athlete, but always had a smile on his face. He said he had several reasons for choosing NJIT. “My parents like it because of its …
