An accident that closed two lanes of Route 18 northbound have been reopened. Details on the accident, which involved a car and a pedestrian, have yet to be released. The incident closed Route 18 between Tices Lane and West Prospect Street.
An accident involving a pedestrian has closed northbound Route 18 from West Prospect Street to Tices Lane.
A motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian is under investigation. As a result, both lanes of Route 18 north from West Prosepect Street to Tices Lane are closed. Check back for more updates.

Minor injuries reported following accident on Route 18 this morning.
A four-car accident at 8:28 a.m. made for a messy commute on Route 18 this morning. According to police, a 2009 four-door Acura, driven by Leanna Vastoler, 24, of Marlboro, had stopped in traffic in the southbound lane of Route 18 near Icker Avenue before being hit in the rear by a 2008 four-door Infinity driven by Annette Persaud, 33, of Matawan. A third vehicle, a 2010 four-door Toyota driven by Steven Tong, 55, of Colts Neck, then failed to stop and struck Persaud’s vehicle in the rear, causing it to hit Vastoler’s car again. A fourth vehicle, a 1999 four-door Toyota driven by Emily Mott, 25, of Asbury Park, also failed to stop in time and hit Tong’s vehicle, which in turn hit the two vehicles in front of it again. Accident shut down Route 18 south and created traffic problems in the area.
A 61-year-old Manalapan man was rushed to the hospital Monday, Nov. 14, following an accident on Route 18. Police said the victim, Joseph Yankilevich, was driving a 2009 Scion XB southbound on Route 18 when he hit a 1996 Nissan Altma driven by Diana Sachakova, 17, of Old Bridge, just south of Rues Land at 4:59 p.m. Sachakova was entering the highway from the Exxon gas station. Yankilevich’s vehicle rolled over and the driver had to be extricated by Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Department District No. 1. Yankilevich was taken by TransMed Ambulance Service and RWJ Paramedics to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with serious injuries. Police said he was treated and released.
