Graduates! Now that you have that degree, are you unsure what to do next? Grab your resumes and head to the New Jersey Collegiate Career Day on May 30 at Rutgers University. From 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., over 150 public and private sector employers will be at the Rutgers Student Center, 126 College Ave. and Brower Commons, 145 College Ave., according to a press release from the university. Free shuttles will be on hand to transport people between the West Stadium parking lot near High Points Solutions Stadium on Busch Campus and the site of the fair. Rutgers University graduate Sharo Atmeh has taken out $150,000 in student loans to pay for college and Harvard Law School. Atmeh, 27, graduated from Rutgers University in 2007, but says his high student loans are preventing him from moving on with his life. “As you can imagine, I would love to become a homeowner, but that dream will have to wait until after I repay much of my high amounts of student loan debt," he said. The Rutgers Army ROTC program held its traditional commissioning ceremony on Tuesday afternoon at Kirkpatrick Chapel.

Rutgers’ 247th universitywide Commencement will begin rain or shine at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at High Point Solutions Stadium on the Busch Campus in Piscataway. The ceremony is expected to conclude around 2 p.m. and will be followed by collegiate and departmental convocations and receptions on the Busch and Livingston campuses in Piscataway, and on the College Avenue and Cook/Douglass campuses in New Brunswick. With an estimated 14,302 graduates, plus thousands of family members, friends and well-wishers from the Rutgers community, a crowd as large as 40,000 might fill the stadium for the free event. A woman is now at the helm of the Rutgers University athletics department for the first time in Rutgers history, following the hiring of new AD Julie Hermann. Hermann was introduced to the public on Wednesday at a press conference at the Rutgers Visitor Center. She comes from the University of Louisville, where she served as the executive senior associate director of athletics under acclaimed AD Tom Jurich. By welcoming home the admired "Fast Eddie", Rutgers University took a step in the next direction of the Rutgers basketball program on Tuesday by introducing new head basketball coach Eddie Jordan. Jordan, 58, takes the job of former head coach Mike Rice, who was fired in April after a video of unorthodox and abusive coaching methods was made public. Rutgers University announced today (Friday) that Lacrosse Coach Brian Brecht has been suspended following allegations of verbal abuse. The university did not say what the allegations entailed, but Rutgers president Robert L. Barchi did release a statement. “While I cannot comment on an ongoing investigation, let me reiterate that there is no place at Rutgers for words or actions that are inconsistent with the values of the university. Dr. John Arthur Meade went to the last “Roundup” in the sky on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. He was 84. Born in Coldwater, MI, he resided in Kentland, MD before moving to East Brunswick in 1966. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was a Professor of Agronomy at Rutgers University, New Brunswick on the Cook College Campus for 25 years, and was a part of the Rutgers Cooperative Extension. Prior to that, he did research at the University of Maryland. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of Maryland, and his Doctorate from the University of Iowa Class of 1958. He was a member of the NJ Christmas Tree Growers Association, and the Northeastern Weed Control Conference. He was a Peacetime Veteran of the US Navy, having…

Francis L. Lawrence, who served nearly 12 years as the 18th president of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, died Tuesday at his home in Mount Laurel, N.J. Lawrence, who came to Rutgers in October 1990 from Tulane University, New Orleans, where he was chief academic officer, was 75 years old. Lawrence served the university during a period of remarkable change. When he began his tenure, the internet was used primarily by scientists, rather than students, and the nation was poised for economic growth. When he left office in 2002, the internet was part of daily life and the nation was struggling following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
