Planning Board Approves White Castle

The fast food restaurant will be buit near Arthur Street and Route 18.

The East Brunswick Planning Board unanimously approved an application to build a White castle on Route 18, Wednesday. Belmont Realty Associates plans to build a 2,580-square-foot White Castle with a drive through  on a 18.443-acre parcel of “underutilized parking lot” just north of KMart and south of Home Space. According to plans on file at the township Planning Department, the restaurant would be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and employ six to eight people per shift, with about three shifts per 24 hours. In the area right now are about 963 parking spaces. The plans call for removing 76 and installing another 43 for 891 parking spaces. Follow Patch on Facebook. White Castle Eyes Route 18: Here's What You Said.

One thing is for sure, whether you approve of a White Castle or not, there will be no shortage of people who want to stop here.

The possibility of having a White Castle set up shop right here in East Brunswick has some people excited. According to an East Brunswick Patch poll asking readers which fast food restaurant makes the best burgers, 51 out of 94 people voting said White Castle was their favorite. Coming in next was Wendy’s with 13 votes, In N Out with 10 votes and Burger King with 9 votes. But just because White Castle won the poll doesn’t mean that everyone is happy with the possibility of the fast food chain opening in East Brunswick. Fast Food Burgers. Is White Castle the Best?

Fast food burgers might be gross or delicious, depending on who you ask. But one thing is for sure, almost everyone has had one. Tell us East Brunswick, do you have a favorite fast food joint?

By now everyone knows that Belmont Realty Associates wants to build a 2,580-square-foot White Castle with a drive through  on a 18.443-acre parcel of “underutilized parking lot” just north of KMart and south of Home Space. While opinions are mixed on whether the restaurant is appropriate for the area, there is still the question of whether or not you like White Castle burgers. So here's your chance, tell us what your favorite FAST FOOD burger place is. It doesn't matter if it's Wendy's, McDonalds, or someplace else, we want to know. If it's not already in East Brunswick, would you like to see that place set up shop in town?
