Antique Radios on Display at the Library

Take a mini tour of the history of radios.

Help the East Brunswick Public Library Celebrate New Jersey by visiting its latest display, “Inventions of NJ: Radio” courtesy of the New Jersey Antique Radio Club and InfoAge. On display all month, the exhibit will take you through a visual tour of the history of Radio, beginning in the 1920s (or “the wild west” of radio as it’s also known) all the way up to the modern era, which began when the transistor was invented at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, N.J. Take a peek at an old Marlodyne 3-dialer from the 1920s, and see how it evolved over time. There is plenty to see in this great presentation.  For more information on this event call 732-390-6767 or go to The Library’s website athttp://www.ebpl.org and click on “News & Events.”

Presidential Portraits on Display Library

Come see the works of artist Don Bloom.

Visit the East Brunswick Public Library during January and see the works of local artist Don Bloom. Bloom’s portraits of American presidents are based on a series of Presidential stamps put out by the United States Postal Service in 1986, with additions of America’s more recent residents.  The portraits were drawn after being commissioned by Edward Mendlowitz so that they could be printed on envelopes and have the new stamps cancelled with a special “First Day Issue” postmark. Bloom has received numerous awards, fellowships and scholarships during his career. His work is on permanent display at Rutgers University and many local libraries, including East Brunswick’s. This exhibit is part of the Library’s Celebrate New Jersey month. For more…
