The East Brunswick Soccer Club's program helps those with special needs enjoy the "beautiful game."
It’s an easy way to make a difference, and a great way to get outside and have some fun. TOPSoccer (The outreach Program for Soccer) is hosted by EBSC every Saturday morning at the level playing field at Heavenly Farms. Since its inception, it has promoted athletics, fitness and soccer to special needs children and young adults. The program pairs “Buddy” coaches with students and consists of stretching and ball work, fun games and skill development and then full-field games to close each weekly session. The East Brunswick United U15 boys team won its flight in the MAPS Winter Showcase 2012 tournament. In the first two games on Saturday United won against TSF Academy and The Football Club of NJ 1-0 and 2-0 respectively. On the next day, United won the first game against Phoenix SC from Pennsylvania securing a place in the finals where they faced Millstone United. United dominated the game with a 2 to 0 win. EB United players are Keysean Brant, Kyle DeGroff, Mohamed Fquihi, Johnny Frycz, Riley Harris, Sajid Fahumy, Jarett Kean, Russel Kevin, Zach Kirschenbaum, Dennis Kotenko, Marco Loncar, Jeremy Mammen, Alex Mora, Phil Ogalo, Phil Ripp and Ian Sawicki. The U13 boys team had a great season.
Congratulations to the East Brunswick Gladiators U13 Boys for winning flight 1 in the MNJYSA league. The Gladiators scored 34 goals and gave up 10 on the way to an 8-2 record. The U13 Boys Team clinched the EDP Division Title for the fall season.
United FC U13B beat Upper Makefield, Pa., and clinched EDP’s Division Title for the fall season. United FC’s coaching staff is very proud of the accomplishments obtained in the last five months by these young players. The team had some great performances and was rewarded with ranking points in 6 out of the last 7 competitions. The team has been very consistent while competing in one of the best regional leagues and in highly ranked tournaments. With the accomplishment, United FC improved its ranking to No. 2 in New Jersey and No. 16 nationally. Last weekend’s Hurricane Sandy donation drive sponsored by the East Brunswick Soccer Club was a huge success. Held at Heavenly Farms and Dideriksen Park, the club collected more than 2,000 pounds of food and over 10 car loads of clothing and blankets to be used for hurricane relief. The collected items were distributed to local organizations who serve those in need. “A big thank you to all those who contributed and helped out, specifically the U9 Strikers FC and coaches Jeff Reed and Jon Santos and the parents of the U13 Revolution. The boy came up with a last minute victory Sunday at Heavenly Farms.
The U13 United FC East Brunswick Soccer Club boys squad is on fire. The team will face Milburn SC Titans Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m at the Wall Soccer Club facilities.This is the third trip in three years to the Semi-Finals for United. The team won the 2010 New Jersey State Championship. United is coached by 2011 New Jersey Youth Soccer Travel Coach of the Year, Hector Escobar, Joe Camarota and Ilear Shehaj. "This is an exciting achievement by this team," said EBSC President James Harmon. "The club is very proud of their accomplishments. The East Brunswick Soccer Club is proud to announce that it has two teams playing in the quarter finals of the prestigious New Jersey bracket of the National Championship Series. Both teams will be playing their State Cup games at home this weekend. East Brunswick Ignite U13 girls went undefeated (3-0-1) to win the 30th Annual South Brunswick Kickoff Tournament held Sept. 8 and Sept. 9.
