RU Geek Week Begins Today
This weeklong event will feature video games, panel discussions, pop culture, board games, academic competitions and other happenings.
The geeks are coming. No longer just a moniker for the inept at sports or socially awkward, young adults are claiming their geekiness as a subculture that melds all sorts of interests, from video games and the internet to academics, popular culture, history and science fiction. In other words, it's cool to be a geek. And in order to celebrate the many geeks at Rutgers, today the university kicks off Geek Week, an amalgamation of discussion panels, academic contests, video and board gaming, performances, film screenings, trivia, costume contests and plenty of geeky discussion.
