East Brunswick councilwoman Nancy Pinkin has been confirmed as a Democratic candidate to run for Assembly in the 18th district. Pinkin will run on the ticket of Assemblyman Peter Barnes (NJ-18), a Democrat who was elected to General Assembly in 2007 and has served as Whip since 2010. Pinkin will campaign for Barnes' 18th district assembly seat while he runs to fill the seat of Sen. Barbara Buono, who is currently campaigning for governor. Their ticket is rounded out by Assemblyman Patrick Diegnan, whose 18th district seat is also up for election. Township Councilwoman Nancy Pinkin announced Tuesday that she would be seeking the Democratic nomination to run for the State Assembly in the 18th Legislative District. The announcement was made by East Brunswick Democratic Committee Chairman Ed Luster at the East Brunswick Elks Lodge. The Democratic 18th District Committee will meet in full session on March 19 to elect the Democratic candidates for the fall election. The 18th Legislative District includes East Brunswick, Edison, Helmetta, Highland Park, Metuchen, South Plainfield and South River. Hollyrock, couldn't agree more! She even abstained on early voting, which was a state issued directive!! I'm guessing she's looking to protect her new government issued job. Anyone else find it ironic that 3 weeks before being nominated she gets a cushy county job at Roosevelt? Pension padding I suspect.
