Township Workers Go Out On a Limb

The township tree crew works day and night making sure the trees of East Brunswick don't present a danger.

It was a hot day in July when a member of the township’s tree cutting crew was called into service. Russ Buchinsky had been a tree climber and cutter for 23 years before coming to work for East Brunswick just a few months ago. His work had been good, but on this day, he was being asked to do something out of the ordinary. This time, he had to climb up to a sleeping bear that was stuck in a tree, tranquilize it, and then lower it down with chains and ropes so the Division of Fish and Wildlife could take it away. All in a days work for the township worker. In fact, it was the second time in a year that the crew had been called to help with a bear. Well thats great Im glad we have such a fine team set up to take care of our tree's. I saw them out cutting branches in march, they really do a great job and I hope there compensated well.   more ›
