On the article Christie: Woodbridge is Next in Line After First Round of Buyouts

ReplyIt'll be a long, hard wait for those in perpetual flood zones. The governor is doing a good job at communicating and preserving hope, but this is not happening overnight. Hopefully those displaced and waiting can continue to pay mortgages and often live elsewhere as they wait without defaulting on loans. In this economy especially, best wishes to all! There are many who will no doubt fall between the cracks though, and their well-being will be largely the responsibility of local municipalities and mayors statewide. Under such duress, neighborhoods and local political entities (mayors, etc) show their true colors and to whom they are beholden. May their priorities be conspicuously for all their fellow local residents and not just their "friends"

ReplyRegarding the psycho car driver, he lived and is looking at around 13 years in prison. The utility worker testified against him as did Kai. Now Kai is the alleged perpetrator.

ReplyHe just got arrested at the Philly Greyhound station...apparently without incident. There are a bunch of Kai knockoffs on facebook now. What a world. Fear and violence sell.

ReplyI agree with David. It's bad enough that improvements necessary to pass muster with FEMA standards may result in property tax increases, but to be taxed on uninhabitable property by no fault of their own adds insult to injury. Give'em a break!

ReplyBus drivers and all truck drivers should be required to take periodic physical exams, but I believe NJ only requires that of HazMat drivers (gasoline trucks and the like). Another common problem has been bus drivers working for two bus services and putting in too many hours. Without knowing the particulars, I hope the Board of Ed is looking hard in to what caused this potential tragedy so that it never happens again. Imagine the lawsuits. that would've followed had Tom Hennessy not been so vigilant. He is certainly owed a huge debt of gratitude...or cash for saving the families of those students a lot of pain and suffering.

ReplyYou won't even know it's there...except for the omnipresent WPD cars protecting tbe fortress and using the lot for speed traps. Montclair's is as obvious as your average abortion clinic. The hype about crime related activity rising is a result is just that...hype, though I CAN understand the concern. Christie thought this out and it is VERY tightly run. As for the issue, it is bipartisan NJ. Mac sees a money maker perhaps, but Mac can't get a card so...it will benefit those in dire need. Kudos to the State of NJ for getting this far.

ReplyIt would seem at the time of the arrest that only the top guy from Parlin/Old Bridge had anything on him upon arrest since the charges against everybody else named were related to a long investigation and search warrants were only used in Parlin and the barber shop. The Parlin guy will have to give up his supplier or he's looking at a lot of prison time. Will he be a Sammy the Bull type and give in, or be a John Gotti type and die in prison? Maybe the Feds can use him. His supplies are from across state lines. This will be interesting to follow on the Parlin character anyhow, who amounts to nothing more than a crew leader.

I do feel pity for the deceased. The ignorant, homophobic rhetoric does keep emerging when these things happen. Kai appears to be a charming sociopath and I've seen them before. Anyone who can't see it should search: "sociopathology, borderline personality disorder". It's not a long way from there to unconscionable violence, and the perp as victim is a common portrayal after the fact.
