4-H Haunted Asylum has Scares and Fun

The Haunted Asylum will run every Friday and Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. until Oct. 29.

Once you go in, you may never come out. Unless, of course you’re too scared and want to, then by all means, the 4-H volunteers working at the Haunted Asylum this year will be more than happy to help.

But if you do go, then be prepared to be scared.

The 4-H’s annual haunted house opens tonight at the and will run every Friday and Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. until Oct. 29.

Laura Bovitz, who is helping set the house up, said she’s asked every year if it’s scary, to which she replies, “of course it is. It’s supposed to be.”

Haunted Asylum is not for the weak of heart, with chainsaws, coffins, dummies that look like corpses, guts and the usual helping of disturbing mayhem planned.

In anticipation of the fright factor, the 4-H has a variety of activities for kids also planed, including mini golf, crafts, games and more.

“There are a lot of people who come with kids and realize it’s too scary, so we have this for the kids,” she said Friday afternoon.

Proceeds from the event will go to Project Gift, which provides families in need with the chance to “shop” for holiday gifts for their children.

It’s a free day of shopping for needy families,” she said, “We work with shelters and social workers and et up in the Log Cabin and let them shop, this way the can pick what they want for their kids.”

Tickets for the Haunted Asylum are $3. The Middlesex County Fair Grounds is located at 645 Cranbury Road, at the intersection with Fern Road.
