Give An Animal a New Home This Weekend

Help find a new home for a pet this weekend by attending one of three adoption events sponsored by the Animal Rescue Force of East Brunswick this weekend. ARF holds weekly adoption events throughout the area to find homes for animals that would have been euthanized in a shelter or whose parents can no longer care for them.

Every Saturday and Sunday you can find ARF at the PetSmart on Route 18 in East Brunswick from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; at the Petco on Route 1 in Edison from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and at the Englishtown Auction, 90 Wilson Road, Englishtown, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (located in the big gray building).

While many animals are available, here is just a few you can find this weekend.

Sailor is a male pointer/lab/hound mix. He’s eight months old, very sweet and active. He is crate trained. When especially stressed, he may have a seizure, but they don't happen often, and he is on medicine. His owner moved in with a friend, and can't take him. This dog will be at the PetSmart adoption center in East Brunswick in Midstate Mall, on Route 18 Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Check the ARF website Saturday and Sunday morning to see if anything has changed.

Kay is a female 4-year-old pure Peke, but may be from a puppy mill because she does not exactly have the same face or legs. She is very sweet, but takes a while to get to know strangers. At first, she will bite you. Once she knows and trusts you, she is sweet, loyal and will love to cuddle...she will be your best friend. Kay loves to play with other dogs and even cats—see video link. To adopt her will cost $250, which includes her spay, shots, heartworm test, ID chip. This dog will be at the Englishtown Auction booth in the gray building Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For a video of Kay, click HERE.

Frisky is a very sweet 3-year-old Neutered male cat. He loves to be pet and will just lean into you. Sometimes, if you aren't paying enough attention to him, he will climb on you... one foot then another, until you have a cat on your lap. He is very playful and loves to carry around his soft toy mouse, and throw them in the air. He also enjoys his scratching post. He hugs it sometimes. If he hears the treat bag he is immediately in your lap and if you are sitting around he will patiently sit next to you awaiting some pats. Frisky is wonderful cat and was saved from a high kill shelter. He loves people, toys and most of all food! He is afraid of dogs, but is ok with my other foster cats. He is up to date on shots, tested for FIV and FeLV and microchipped. To adopt him will cost $85. This cat will be at our Petco adoption center on Route 1 in Edison in the Home Depot shopping center Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
