Extreme Heat Warning Issued

Heat Index will mean it feels like close 112 degrees today.

A heat wave that’s expected to bring the heat index to between 105 and 112 degrees today means an excessive heat warning will be in effect until 8 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, July 23.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to be near 101 today, with a heat index value as high as high as 112. Tomorrow (Saturday) will be another hot one, with temperatures near 100 and a heat index at around 106. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms and showers on Saturday night with a low around 75.

On Sunday, the heat breaks. Sort up, with temperatures near 91 and a 30 percent chance of rain. Sunday evening there is a chance of thunderstorms.

The heat has caused the township to reschedule or change several events, including postponing tonight’s until August, and moving Saturday’s .

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
