Keep the Kids Busy Now That School's Out

Movies, fitness, bouncing and a Friday night swim party!

Ok. So the kids are out of school, but you’re not out of work.

If you’re looking for something to keep the young ones occupied while you work, sleep, or do your usual routine, then here is a list of just a few things in town that might keep them busy over the next few days.

  • Head to the at 1 p.m. Friday, June 22, for a free showing of “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.”
  • On Saturday, visit the library and learn about animals and how to care for them during an animal awareness program led by Girl Scout Ridhi Vakharia. The program begins at 11 a.m. and is for kids age 4 and up.
  • will have an “open bounce” at 10 a.m. Friday, June 22. Let your kids bounce, slide, and climb on fun inflatable rides. The cost is $8, or $35 for five visits. The Fields holds Open Bounce every Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All ages are welcome.
  • The has a "Vacation Day" scheduled for Friday, June 22. For anyone looking for a day filled with fun activities. Vacation camp is $45 per child per day. Earlier this week, campers made grilled cheese over an open camp fire, swam, and had a variety of other activities. In addition, anyone looking for more coverage can sign up for the Y’s summer camp, Camp Yomeca.
  • At , you can sign your kids up for an hour-long session in which they will perform a fun, fast paced and demanding group work out. The training combines circuit training and high performance work outs. The program is Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m.. Sessions are for kids who are 12 and older. Five sessions is $50, 10 sessions is $85 and 20 sessions is $150.
  • Open to students entering grades sixth through eight only, kids will have the entire park to their selves from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, June 22. The event is for residents only and students need to bring a student ID or report card. The cost is $10 at the door.
