Three Charged With Burglary Following Chase

After running and then canoeing away, two of the suspects were caught after police, and the K-9 unit, tracked them down.

East Brunswick Police charged three men with burglary and conspiracy after they allegedly broke into a South Drive residence Friday, and then fled on foot, and then by canoe, before being apprehended

Police said that Jorge Guevara, 31, of Jamaica, N.Y., Carlos Parra, 31, of Elmhurst, N.Y., and  Celso Aragon-Mina, 29, of Corona, N.Y., fled the scene after several police units responded at approximately 4 p.m. to a report of an attempted burglary in progress.

According to police, a neighbor said he saw two males get out of a car that had New York plates and enter the backyard of the home.  A third male that was driving away in the vehicle was immediately detained and later taken into custody once police arrived.

However, the two remaining suspects ran from the residence and were eventually spotted by police travelling in a canoe near the shoreline of Farrington Lake.  The suspects then got out of the canoe and ran away into the area of Agate Road.

The New Jersey State Police K-9 Unit arrived on the scene and assisted with the search.  A short time later the suspects were seen by police and after a brief foot chase both were apprehended.
