(Updated) Police and Township Strike Deal

A new three-year deal with police has been reached.

The township and members of the township’s two police unions have tentatively agreed to a three-year contract.

While the deal has yet to be ratified, the contracts will be retroactive to Jan. 1, with negotiations having started in the fall, according to Township Administrator James White.

According to White, an agreement with the Policemen’s Benevolent Association, which represents rank and file officers, includes a 1.5 percent salary increase on July 1, for a net increase of .75 percent this year. In the second and third year of the deal, increases will be 2 percent, he said.

In the deal, staring salaries would be $48,550 and the top salary would be $97,588, for PBA members.

For members of the Fraternal Order of Police, which represents superior officers, officers can expect to receive a 2 percent increase in the first and second years, then no increase in the third year.
