Get Your Exam Proctored at the Library

Whether you're in college, trade school or getting some other certification, The East Brunswick Library will proctor your exam.

The Business Resource Center at the proctors exams for both residents and non-residents who are pursuing traditional college degrees or certification in a trade or specialty, giving students of all ages a convenient, inexpensive place to take the next step in their education.

“Our customers love the convenience of having their exams proctored here at the library as they pursue college degrees through distance learning,” said Information Services Manager Karen Parry. “Others customers are changing careers to stay relevant in the new economy or seeking personal enrichment in retirement.”

All exams are proctored by professional librarians who hold Master’s Degrees in Library Science and Professional Library Certificates, required for exam proctoring. Since it began offering the service in 2001, the Library has proctored for a variety of universities, including Pennsylvania State, Drexel, Thomas Edison, Brigham Young, Louisiana State, Columbia and Syracuse.

Librarians will administer both print and online exams according to each institution’s guidelines: including permissible materials in the student’s possessions during the exam; administering tests within the designated time limits, and monitoring the student for the duration of the exam. All exams are kept confidential and in a secure location. Once paper exams are completed, librarians will seal and mail them to the university. Online exams are submitted electronically by the librarian upon completion. All interested students should contact Karen Parry, who will complete the initial paperwork, schedule exams during library hours, and act as a liaison between the student and the institution.

There is a $25 fee for each exam scheduled for proctoring.  Payment is required at the time the exam is administered.  The library will accept cash or checks. Checks must be made payable to the East Brunswick Public Library.  For additional information or to schedule a test, contact Karen at  kparry@ebpl.org or call the library at (732) 390-6767.
