Sam Mattis Drive Open for Business

The Township Council passed several proclamations Monday celebrating EBHS athletes.

The East Brunswick Township Council passed a proclamation Monday recognizing East Brunswick High School Class of 2012 Graduate Sam Mattis on his accomplishments in track and field.

Mattis, who will be attending the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, was the GMC Champion for shot put and discus, State Sectional Champion in discus, State Group IV Champion in discus, Penn Relay Champion in discuss and the Meet of Champions winner in discuss.

“Whereas, this type of competition provides an opportunity for our youth to learn and enjoy the meaning of team spirit and the value of hard work and dedication; now, therefore be it proclaimed that I, David Stahl, Mayor of the Township of East Brunswick, do hereby congratulate Sam Mattis, his parents, and coach David Hagan on this outstanding achievement and commend him for exhibiting qualities of hard work, perseverance, and self-sacrifice throughout he entire season,” read the proclamation.

The mayor also proclaimed that Civic Center Drive be renamed “Samuel Mattis Drive” from June 25 through July 2.
